Desert Lullaby

Ku shook his head and yelled back."No exact idea! I only know that their looking for some artifacts...I think!" Now that he had actually thought about it...he had no idea what Leo and Shinrah were looking for. All he knew was that he was finally out on the desert.

Leo shook his head to clear the sandy memorys of the desert from his head. He leaned back in the seat, feeling the vibrations of the engine rattling his bones. The feeling was almost soothing, the roar of the engine providing a faint lullaby to Leo's tattered ears. As Shinrah spoke Leo smiled dispite the realization that they were infact far behind schedual. Her voice joined the music of the desert and sand and all was at ease inside his mind.

With a smile still on his face he spoke. " Well then we better step on it." He said giving a chuckle and then patting the dash with his hand. His palm brushed up against the radio and he grabbed the mic. He fumbled with the switches and then after a quick clearing of his throat, he spoke to the convoy. " Hey all, I think that we should step it up a bit, we need to reach the island chain before noon. Over." Leo's voice was smooth although you could catch the shaking in it as his body quivered from the faint amount of eco in his body.

He got on the radio and let the other know they needed to beat feet. Well, she could definitely do that. She stepped on the gas and changed gears, makng them go faster than before. She had to pull her gogles down because sand was whipping in her eyes, her hair all over. It was slowly escaping the briad she had it in and the strands stung her face almost as much as the sand. The others needed to catch up soon or they would get ost behind them. Once she could concentrate on him again she spoke.

"So what else are we going to tell them about this little venture. They know we're hunting for artifacts but we haven't told them anything else." She was shouting a bit, but not purposely. Exciement colored her voice and she seemed to have a smooth wave of red hovering over her hands. Eco, and lots of it. Sparks of blue were all over her, and she didn't know what to do about that.

Rawling heard Leo voice, but barely over the music so he turned it down to hear the entire announcement. Rawling knew where the chain was. It was a good drive but by noon? At this time? Why noon? Maybe 1:00 probably. 12:45 at the most. Getting there by noon was a feat all on its own.

Rawling picked up the radio. "Uhh did I hear ya correctly? You want us there by noon? That's pretty hefty man...over." He had to be offish with the radio with that final "over" at the end. He then saw Shinrah punch it so Rawling did the same. There was no way he can lose them in a Screamer.

Leo let the wind blow back his hair and clam him down. The desert was growing warmer and warmer as the sun began to sprout up from the peaks of the nearby mountaintops. Through the whipping wind and sand, Shinrah spoke. Her question was a good one. Telling a bunch of strangers why they were in a convoy heading to the monk temple would be an idea. It wasn't right to keep these people in the dark after they had just risked their skins to save them. " I guess we shouldn't really leave them out any longer." Leo admitted as she ran his fingers over the rough mesh over the radio.

Through the radio Rawling's voice crackled, along with the faint sound of background music. Leo scrunched up his face at the question. Had this guy ever been in the desert? He questioned mentally as he fumbled to find the right button on the radio. " I don't know about you but I would rather be cooling off in the ocean than baking out in the desert in the heat of the day. Over. " Leo answered his tone still carrying a slightly noticeable quiver in it.

Rawling was silent for a few seconds, holding the radio in his hands as he drove. He nodded his head and spoke into the radio. "Uhh, good point, over." He put the radio back onto the dash and proceeded to drive.

"So what bring you to the desert, man. The hopes of finding lost treasure," he said some what sarcastically but at least he had a smile on his face.

Ku listened as Leo and Rawling went back and forth with one another, but didn't pay much attention to it. He watched as the sun got higher and higher into the ground with the other sun following not too far behind it.

When Rawling asked him a question, Ku shook his head with a smile. "I'm out here just for the adventure! I'm not too much of a desert person because I don't have a buggy to call my own and I find it awkward to try and ask to borrow one!" He tapped the side of the buggy lightly as the music continued playing.

Shinrah kicked it a gear higher so that they could make their destination by noon. In her mind she was letting the excitement spurr her on, just like it would if she were hunt. The game was on, and she currently didn't care who got in the way. This was a challenge she was going to definitely accept wholeheartedly. Then again, she had to leave a little of her heart out and reserved for Sparky because he seemed to be growing on her. She sighed and shook her head as she looked out over the rolling sands.

" Okay, well we need to figure out exactly what we're going to say before noon. When we stop we can explain what we're really out here for. Anyone who argues will be shot. Survivors will be shot again." she said simply to Leo
