Desert Lullaby

"Oh awesome! Well you guys take care and watch for Marauders!" Rawling said waving as they sped off out of the garage. He was walking around the back of the buggy making sure that his bags were secure by giving a good tug on the straps and luggage. "Alright, its go time."

He hopped in the front seat and started the engine. The buggy vibrated from the engine and it made its familiar purr. Rawling Then tied his bandana across his face, shifted it into drive and slowing made his way out the garage door. Once he his the sand of course he punched it hard!

"YEEEHAAAAWW!" He shouted pumping his fist in the air. The warm desert air rushed passed his face and it was delightful. The speed of th buggy was getting faster and faster until it had reached its maximum speed. "The good thing about Screamers is that they can go faster than this!" He shouted to himself.

Rawling reached forward and slowly transfered some blue eco in the mechanics of the machine. He put his hands on the wheel and braced himself. With a sudden jolt the buggy sped off like a bat out of hell. He was ramping sand dunes left and right with the sand and gravel flying through the behind him. But just to be safe Rawling took back the eco and the Screamer slowed down.

Rawling looked in the distant in front of him and noticed another car. "Hey it must be those people I saw earlier." He thought. But he didn't want to butt in on what they were doing. This was his day to enjoy this drive and hope that he'll find something valuable at the temple. Hopefully there won't be any Marauders lurking about..

Ku quickly pressed his foot on the gas pedal, making the car burst forward.
He said,"Holy crap! These things go really, really fast!" He pushed the pedal even harder, quickly shifting gears as he managed to catch up with Shinrah.
Ku said,"This is a bit too easy if you ask me. You sure driving on the streets isnt harder?"

The Monk rolled up the hill and parked by the Temple. Turning the engine off he caught the scent of his brothers. “I won’t get in their way.” He said jumping out of the marauder car. His feet hit the sand and he felt better. He still continued to feel his shoulder; it was going to hurt for a while.

He walked up to the Temple and stopped. “Great… Soon people will be here to take our Great Precursor Artifacts… such disgrace.” He said looking around. The Monks were doing their ceremony, he sighed and simply left them be. “Where to start?” He asked himself looking down each place and then up. He thought of the cliffs on the outside… the ones that made the Temple so great.

There. He walked backwards and looked up at the cliff. “Will do.” He said jumping on it, then climbing slowly. With each body length he put a small metal hook in and tied it to his rope, which supported him. He went up a ways.

Leo let out a yelp as the buggy raced forward out of the garage and into the sand. His grip tightened and his hand arched with blue sparks of electricity. As the speed of the buggy increased he slowly loosened his grip, the feeling of the wind whipping his clothing and the smell of the dessert calming him. It's been such a long time hasn't it. He thought closing his eyes and letting the warm rays of the sun bathe his tan skin.

It was almost dream like, the feelings bringing him back to the days when he used to take the buggy's and spend countless hours jumping the dunes in search of caves and artifacts. The sound of Shinrah's voice brought him back to the present, and he opened an eye and tilted his head over to hear her. " I think we will have more fun when we get there " He said with a smile, a few more sparks crackling over his hand as he eagerer for discovery.

Shinrah smiled, pushing the dune buggy to its limits. She wanted to get further ut, closer to the temple. At thr rate they ewere traveling it would only be a matter of minutes. The communications port hissed, and a screaming female voice came on. She frowned, trying to understand it through the static.

" Did you catch that Leo?" She asked, looing out into the sands. " I swear I heard the word "marauder" in there somewhere. And whoever it was sounded pissed." She hit the brake, sending them skidding over the sand. The vehicle turned as it was skidding, missing a bouder in the sand by inches. As soon as they were out of the way she hit the gas, sending them racing forward. She hadn't had this much fun since she had stolen a KG cruiser, breaking the city to pieces.

Ku stopped next to Shinrah and looked over into her buggy.
He asked,"Is everything okay?" He didn't want to have to go back after just leaving! Ku just sat there, looking out into the distance through the churning sand.

He squinted his eyes as he saw a figure approaching them. When Ku finally heard the roor of the engines, his eyes widened.
He screamed,"Marauders!"

Leo was caught by surprise by the crackling voice crackling over the radio. He raised his hand close to the radio and concentrated, charging a bit of blue eco into the palm of his hand. The blue arch of electricity crackled and the channel became momentarily clear. " -ell Marauder Car 398 is coming towards the Monk - " The static overtook the radio again the and the clear woman's voice became almost inaudible.

Leo lowered his hand, clenching it into a fist as he turned his head towards the drivers side. "Looks like we might have another problem to deal with when we try to get to the temple. " He took a deep breath, shaking his head before continuing." And they don't seem to be enthused."

As Shinrah braked the car Leo couldn't help but grab onto the side for support as the braking put them into a power slide across the sand. It was strange knowing that they were moving around the desert but he couldn't tell where or in what direction they were moving. The feeling made him turn to Shinrah and open his mouth to ask a question, only to be cut off by Ku's shouts.

"Marauders?" He repeated to himself before shaking his head. " Shinrah head to the leaper lizard pens in the ruins, we can shake them there. " He said and then turned to pop his head out of the window and yell to wherever Ku was. " FOLLOW US, DRIVE FAST, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!!"

Rawling saw the Marauders as well. He became wide eyed at first but then got serious. "Aww, sh**. Here he go." Rawling was coming up on the strangers from before pretty fast. He slammed on his brakes and skid to a stop in the sand only feet from them.

"They are coming up hard! Let's give each other a hand!" He shouted. He didn't know who they were but it seemed that they were going on the same mission and had the same problem. So why not help them and hope that they will help him.

Ku turned his head momentarily to the voice. It was the man from the garage, who seemed to also be chased by Marauders.
Ku said,"How about about we follow what Leo said and start driving!" He held the gas and handbrake for a few seconds before speeding off into the distance.

Ku looked back to see if any Marauders were following him and sure enough, he had two of them on his back. He zig-zagged through the desert sand, hoping to blind the Marauder's sight of him. That didn't help much, but seemed to make them angrier as they both rammed into his buggy.

Shinrah nodded, sliding again to get them in the direction of the leaper pens. She at least knew where that was having gone there many times herself. She hit the gas, quickly manning the clutch and putting theminto the next gear. a cloud of sand was spit out behind them, and she nodded to herself. Carefully she pulled her gun off her back.

Turning her head for a few seconds she hefted the gun over, shooting carefully. One of the cars swerved, the man in the front having had a bullet just put through his head. She smiled, and activated a shield around her car. This had been one of the reasons she picked it. Smaller bullets would bounce off, leaaving them protected for the moment.

" Leo, this is going to be hard, but I need you to tru to find bullets in the air and make them swerve around us if you can. I can't do it myself, and I'm going to drive us out of this mess.
" She braked again, sharply sliding a half circle around a boulder. The was the squeal of protesting metal, and the marauder car bloomed into a red flame. Two down, who knows how many more to go.

Bullets zinged over thier heads, and Shinrah banged the communications port. It stopped fizzing, everything coming in perfectly clear now. The maaracuders chattered to each other using words she had never heard. Fire and Rain thrice damned! we're going to have to go on an offesive to get out of this. Sniping them slowly isn't going to work here. She wished she had Mykah here to tell her how to work around this.
