So I saw the commercials for this movie, and I figured it'd be worth watching. So I took a couple of hours and found a place to watch it online. It's a little short, at a little over an hour long.
From what I gather, generally it's reception has been totally negative. Rotten Tomatoes has given it an 8% rating, and describes it as "Witlessly broad and utterly devoid of laughs, Vampires Suck represents a slight step forward for the Friedberg-Seltzer team."
*SPOILERS PRESENT*
Well I watched it myself, and my personal reaction is a little mixed. There's no denying, in my humble opinion, that there are quite a few places in the movie that highly amused me (A vampire getting beaten up by an MMO champion, the trio of vampires being called the Black-eyed peas, and Edward on a Segway) were pretty good laughs. Others were just totally pathetic attempts, like when they reference 'Breaking Dawn' and the fans in the movie, Jacob Black acting and looking like a dog, Edward's ass being made fun of for being wrinkly (Seriously, don't ask) and a couple of ridiculously obvious and not even funny celebrity references. Even as I was watching it I was thinking of really obvious things that would make the movie a lot funnier. In addition, the movie was way too rushed in it's making, and again it's only 80 minutes long, which in my opinion isn't worth $10 unless it's a damned good movie.
*Spoilers over*
So my overall reaction is somewhat mixed. There are definitely more cons than pros with this movie, and the hit-and-miss ratio is way off. There were a lot of amusing moments though, and enough of them to not make me stop watching. So overall I'd give the movie a 5/10, but I suspect that some of that may come from a slight bias against Twilight in general.
My Recommendation: Give it a shot if you're rich or know a good website, but if you have high standards for comedy or you're not in a good mood, then don't bother either way.
Any other thoughts?
