I have given this site so much of my time these past few years, and learned allot about the rules of RPing from all the mods and admins, an even a few members, *Wink*. And i think that to take our communities RPing level to the next level we have to share our knowledge. So this is what I've got:
1) Always remember using paragraphs and fonts to keep your post organized and reader friendly
2) There are words in English that describe an action perfectly and give a strong and wanted feeling to the reader- use them
3) Don't use too many He's, But's And's and Than's. It will make the reader feel disconnected and make the RP less enjoyable
4) Always remember describing your surroundings at any time especially if you character is moving from one place to another, and also the time of day. Than you may use it to give a general feeling of your choosing. It will make the reader feel inside the RP instead of an empty void.
5) Describe your characters actions clear and detailed enough to help the reader imagine it.
6) Always keep your character's actions in accordance to your characters profile, no matter if you really want to help or hurt the opposite character. Thats why you can create several character, to create a balance.
7) Its very important to find the boarder line between godmoding to being a weakling. You may wanna let people get away with their clever little tricks cause it may lead to something interesting, don't ruin every move the enemy makes but don't get severely damaged by every punch or cut. Keep your character fighting strong, threatening, fast, but not invincible. You can not see everything coming and you cannot block everything. You will gain the respect of other players by doing so and as a bonus make a more realistic role play.
8) When you are done, click "preview". Look at how your post looks, read it to check for spelling mistakes. If the post doesn't give off the feeling, or the massage you where trying to make, change it! ;D. Now, even the best RPers make mistakes sometimes, so put this time into making your posts more enjoyable.
9) Beginner RP'ers have a common mistake where they are not feeling their characters, not using all the tips above to show the characters anger, sadness, distrust, lies, thoughts.. Heres an example:
Now, i encourage anyone who has anything to add to post his tips in this thread and may we all gain from his/her knowledge, have a fun .
