Welcome to the first Dystopiatic Community News of 2010. I'd also like to say that I'm a little disappointed in myself. I completely forgot about the Anniversary of this site. As of January 10th Dystopiatic Eco is two years old! It is awesome and exciting to see that this forum has lived for a full two years and is still growing with an awesome community and membership. Lets keep growing and make it another full year with an even larger and more active membership! ;D
Now, I have some updates for everyone. I've been rather busy lately working and thinking of new things for the site. I'd like to start by announcing that two of the MVP privileges (view poll voters and view invisible members) have been removed; however, MVPs have a new privilege in which they have no character limit to their signature space. MVPs will still have to keep their signatures at the same size as the rest of the membership, but they'll now be able to make their signatures more sophisticated and complex with additional coding that would have been cut off previously.
In addition to the MVP news, I'm proud to announce that dbkillerex has been promoted to the MVP ranks. He has been a very active member of this site since it's creation and has grown greatly in his writing and RPing. The staff has chosen to recognize him for his activity, growth, and helpfulness to the community.
I'd also like to let everyone know that the staff has taken member requests and concerns into account. As such we are currently in proses of working on starting a Weekly Highlights program. With this there will be a number of things and members in the community that will be recognized for their work once a week. I can not go into great detail with the program as of yet and some things are subject to change, but be on the look out for when it starts.
Finally, I'd like to announce that I've been in the process of completely revamping the main site. When I first created the main site my web development knowledge was rather limited. So now that I have much more experience with HTML, CSS, and the inner workings of the internet I'm rebuilding the main site from the ground up. The following screen shot of the home page shows that in design the site is almost exactly the same, with the rollover menu and higher resolution graphics being the only visual difference; however, behind the visuals the site is completely different. I've upgraded the coding, making the site more coherent and organized which will really help me to keep the site up-to-date, which is one of the major problems with the current main site.
I can't provide a time frame in which the 2.0 version of the main site will be uploaded to the net. But in the mean time I'm leaving 1.0 up so that the site doesn't disappear entirely.
Thank you, and be on the look out for more new and exciting updates.
