Echo! The answer is Echo!
I thought it was an echo the first time I read, but I couldn't figure out how the last two lines fit on it until now.
I repeat your words no matter what they are,
Because an echo is sound bouncing around and "repeating" the same thing back.
Softly, silently, you'll hear them from afar,
The sound loses strength with each echo, but it also requires something big and perfectly-shaped like a cave or the dome of the Capitol.
To love a man, then cry and morn,
This part's about Echo herself, the nymph. She's cursed to only repeat what others say and can't tell Narcissus she loves him, so she cries.
I die alone, new flowers born.
When Narcissus died from watching his reflection too much, he left behind a flower, a narcissus, where his body lay. After that, Echo basically let herself die from the same lack of water and nourishment.

Though the version that I was going off of Echo is the one to turn into flowers after she dies, not Narcissus, and Narcissus dies from drowning while diving into the water after his reflection. But that's minor details. |
