The Halo trilogy has become one of the worlds greatest first person shooters of all times. It brought together great storyline, excellent game play, and some of the best graphics for each time period in which they where released. So due to interest in the games, please feel free to post your favorite weapons, characters, joke in the game, alien to shoot, favorite moment in the game, *Breaths In Deeply* and what ever else you want.

Well just to get this thread rolling again, if you have played the halo games why don't you give me your opinions on who you think the forerunners were.

I think Halo 2's storyline was a bit of a let down...(Begin the horrible flaming...: "You dare mock a Halo game?! BLASHPEMY!")

Yes unfortunatly the Halo 2 storyline was weak and bungie even admitted it but it gave enough to follow through to Halo 3 with the Elite's joining forces with the humans...GO ELITES! Still I found it enjoyable and it even showed some of the background of the Covenant which I found interesting. And better yet I has one of the best speeches given, which happens to be the Regret speech by Sarge, all die hard halo fans should know what I'm talking about.

Halo 2's story was weak? I felt it had a lot more going for it than the first and third ones, especially with the other perspective deal. But no, people like Master Chief, the typical silent protagonist type with a voice that's way too deep over the awesome Sangheili Arbiter who can kick ass and take names just as good as MC can, even better since he isn't an enhanced dude compared to the rest of his race. Also he's voiced by the guy who does the Navy commercials. 'Nuff said.
Honestly, Halo 1, fun for a while, but repeating level schematics made things annoying and confusing. Music was pretty okay, though, and occasional witty dialogue was okay, some things cornier than others.
Halo 2, the music got a major upgrade into epic, but Bungie couldn't harness the loop function well enough to show off the music during gameplay. Also, the lack of music in multiplayer gives it a thumbs down. I rather play Unreal Tournament, where at least you're flakking people to rocking theme music all the time. Graphics were upped and more weapons, but pretty much the same deal as last time... As far as MC is concerned. Like Cortana said near the end, "Not a very original plan, but we know it'll work." With the introduction of The Arbiter, there was more light shed on why the aliens wanted the Halos, more on the backstory of what the Forerunners were (sorta) and you got to go invisible by pressing a single button. X3
Halo 3... It was like they took the worst things in Halo 2 and threw them into Halo 1 to make Halo 3, including a sudden change back in technology for High Charity, which turned me off because they can't stick to their guns worth a crap it seems. Nonetheless, the music that I thought couldn't be made better was upped into over-epic and made very very cool, especially with the added piano to the Halo theme in the last level which is suspiciously similar to the last level of the first Halo. I mean, at least Halo 2 had something of a boss fight like Doom and Duke Nukem had, though it was slightly too easy. Anyways, only problem is that they brought back a bunch of tracks from the first one too, tracks that I thought were a bit weak musically.
Still, the Halo series is somewhat fun, especially if you like challenges. Such as the IWHBYD Skull. That one was amazingly "wtf" tough. And I thought Cairo on Legendary wanted you to not win at all. Seven waves of ultras, twenty-eight total and they stick you with a plasma pistol just to make it better.
Oh yeah, that's another thing: difficulty. All the difficulties can easily be summed up as, from Easy to Legendary: Cakewalk, Cakewalk, Walk in the park, Walk in the ninth circle of hell in a birthday suit. Seriously, and the levels themselves have points where things are incredibly easy and then points where the difficulty is ridiculous, even if you're just on Heroic or Normal. My biggest beef is with Legendary having parts that are just too ridiculous and stupid, pouring enemies at you that number greatly and you're stuck with taking more damage than normal and allies who are either stupid as hell or DEAD already. I think the greatest challenges of Halo's non-Legendary difficulties is to keep your allies alive for as long as possible. I had an Elite brother who survived past the Juggernaut chapter of The Arbiter level because I watched his back all the time.
Overall, Halo is a game to play for flash, for s***s and giggles, and if you just wanna hear people squeal when you blow em up with rockets and grenades. A need to satisfy the thirst for blood I suppose. I think the only good intellectually-stimulating things spawned from Halo are the actual depth of the honorable Elites and the soundtracks for 2 and 3. The rest is just for FPS freaks and stuff. After all, that's all you can get since three-fourths of the story has to be found out on Halo wikia or from the books and Ilovebees and crap.
By the way, I still hold that, as far as entertainment value, Duke Nukem 3D takes the cake for FPS's because of the things Duke says when he blows aliens up and even when he dies. It's like Shakespeare: he gets blown to bits and still has a mouth and vocal chords to say "This really pisses me off". Also, the nonsense mysogeny is actually pretty funny, and I'm someone who hates that kind of crap.
Also, Doom is still the greatest FPS for me: You're taking down Hell itself because the demons down there decided to piss you off by taking over your moonbase and your hometown while they were at it, not to mention your pet rabbit Daisy was decapitated.
Also, I expect FPS's to lack a really good story in the first place since people only really play them to fulfill the need to shoot and kill a lot of the time. Halo didn't do too good of a job trying to bring complex story into a shooter. Not a really good idea because plenty of people won't even pay attention to the story. Either that or they only play Halo for the multiplayer, whether at a party or online.
And thus a voice calls out from the heavens, saying, "FINISH HIM!!!" So, I conclude with this:
Halo, though it had some good story points and awesome music in 2 and 3, really isn't matching to its hype. As I have said before, they aren't bad games, they just aren't quite good either as far as games in general. But people are obsessed with flashiness nowadays or intellectualism, so I expect my opinion to be rejected within five seconds. However I also expect to be the only one in the world who won't end up under Bungie's tyrannical control, living in a mansion on a far-away island with a nice copy of Divine Comedy and my perfect copies of Xenosaga and Final Fantasy 8 to keep me through the storm.
FATALITY. AZM WINS. FLAWLESS VICTORY.

LOL, thats great. I do agree with you on several things but it also comes down to what people's opions are. I personally thougth that Halo 3 had a good storyline thought the game itself did live up to the hype. If there ever was a game to do that in my opionion it would have to be Half Life 2 with Gordon motherfreakin Freeman. But I'll make another thread for that. I do agree big time on the epicness of the music that is for sure.

You win brownie points.

Thanks and though I said that the game did live up to the hype I meant to say that it didn't...typo...but it is still a good solid FPS in my book.
