[Work in progress]
Chapter 1: The art of cruelty
He narrowed his gaze in defiance of the chilling wind blowing against his face, his eyes locked upon the emerald green of a goblin's head peeking out of the tallgrass prairie. Darius drew an arrow from his quiver and nocked it to his bow, careful to keep his body close to the ground. He stalked closer, all the while taking note of the the creature's footsteps and the lengh of its strides.
The sun hung low, threatening to extinguish the final whisps of light that held back the veil of night. Finally, Darius drew back his bow and rose quick to his feet, squinting shut his left eyes before letting the arrow loose. It whistled forward, as if with a life of it's own and dissapeared into the tallgrass where the goblin last tread. A muffled thump could be heard as it's body collapsed onto the earth.
--- The fetid stench of a perspiring goblin, unappetizing in the least.
A shimmer of golden sun shaking through the trees
A shiver of apprehension crisped his skin
Oddities are the world itself. They're linked to the world, unlike living beings. Science alone cannot shed light upon them, as there will always be people who'll be afraid of vampires. Although all forms of darkness could be lit up, darkness will never cease to exist.
I found that unpleasant people are much like trees.
Hit them repeatedly with an axe and they stop getting in your way.

The land of Valseria*.whisp* billow* mud caked face* in puzzlement*
In the dead of the night, near a small village bordering the outskirts of Yuidora city, all was silent or asleep but the rituals of a boy upsetting the spirits .
The crescent moon reflected upon the lake's surface, it's bright image obscuring each time he traced his finger across it. Ripples formed wherever he made contact with the body of water, spreading from him like sound-waves which subsided mere moment after creation. In the deathly silence he became aware of his heart thumping softly against his chest. Such peace was a rare respite in the village life.
The ground beneath him was caked with a fine layer of dust and mud, littered with the fallen leafs of surrounding oaks. His shirt, discarded at his side, now far resembled a damp rag than an article of clothing. His whole body trembled, drenched to the bone from his time in the lake, the boy brought up his knees against his chest to conserve what little heat was left in him. He heaved short, sharp breaths to regain his senses and so he caught the scent of...Mentha?.
Dane tilted his head- eyes wide with surprise. He cast his gaze to the left, down the path snaking from the village to the lake. There, from the shadow of a nearby tree came forward a familiar silhouette- Holding a steaming cup of tea in each hand.
"Hey" The figure smiled peacefully "Having another go at the lake’s maiden?"
With a deep sigh Daniel replied "Yeah, I'm a bit high strung about tomorrow’s hunt”
"Also..." He muttered "They say that cleansing one's body should strengthen the bond between master and spirit".
"Is that so..." Loki sat by his brother's side and handed him some tea "Don't worry... Nothing is really going to change. I’ll stay beside you even if you’re the worst hunter on earth".
Daniel graciously accepted the promise, nodding to his older brother. "But where will they take us?" he voiced his worries.
"Well, as I've said before. Probably Senjin village- Then there's the ceremony at the temple" The man sat at Db's left side, pushing his glasses back to rest atop his slender nose. He adorned a blood-red military uniform; Comprised of a chestplate, a belt and worn leather pants. A lion’s head was depicted over his chestpiece- The symbol of the Valserian empire.
Laying his hand across Db's shoulders, Loki reminded him "It's what you've always wanted". He smiled softly, all the while narrowing his eyes in protest of the frigid wind.
Noisily slurping at his tea daniel mumbled "Yeah. It just all seemed like a dream up until now. And suddenly... You know- It's not". Stretching out his hand, he focused his mind on extending his power beyond himself. Small flames erupted from his fingertips- forming into a ball of raw, pulsing energy. The ominous sphere extended into clawed feet and (?) fangs, a tail and a long feline snout. From the growing blaze came into life a small kitten wreathed in hellfire/flames- A hellcat. The demon took his rightful seat at Db's right side- Providing the brothers with some much welcomed warmth and comfort.
The summoned creature

Hellfire
All was quiet in the land of Valseria. It was late in the middle of the night, near a small village bordering the outskirts of Yuidora.
The crescent moon reflected upon the lake's surface, it's bright image obscuring each time he traced his finger across it. Ripples formed wherever he made contact with the water, spreading from him like soundwaves that subsided mere moment after creation. He took short, sharp breaths to regain his senses and so he caught the scent of...Mentha?.
Db tilted his head in puzzlement, casting his gaze to the source of the disturbance, where from the shadow of a nearby tree stepped forward a familiar silhouette- Holding a steaming cup of tea in each hand.
"Hey" The figure smiled peacefully "Doing another one of your rituals?"
With a deep sight Db replied "Yeah, I'm a bit high strung about tomorrow's ceremony... And leaving the village"
"Also..." He muttered "They say that cleansing one's body and spirit strengthens the bond between master and spirit"
"Is that so..." Loki sat by his brother's side and handed him one of the cups "Don't worry... Nothing is really going to change. We'll still be together you know".
Db Graciously accepted the offer "But where will they take us?" he voiced his worries, narrowing his eyes in protest to the frigid wind.
"Well, as I've said before. You'll get to choose your own class and profession at Senjin village- Then there's the ceremony at the temple. From there, you're a free man. We'll get to join guilds, aid villagers, hunt wild creatures, explore. All these things you've never been able to do in the farm. You'll become a hero, brother" The man sat at Db's side, pushing his glasses back to rest atop his slender nose. He adorned blood-red shoulderplates and a military uniform; Comprised of a chestplate, a belt and leather pants. He brandished the small yellow symbol of a lion on his wrist- The marking of the empire.

The ominous sphere extended into clawed feet and fangs, a tail and a long canine snout. From the growing blaze came into life a small puppy wreathed in hellfire- A hellhound. The demon took his rightful seat at Db's lap- Providing the brothers with some much welcomed heat and comfort.
