Rak sat at the furnace and watched as the last blade came out of the oven. He had already completed his day's work, and was now without anything to do. His father placed the red hot metal on the table and began to shape it. The man wasn't really his his father, but Rak had always thought of him as that, and the man had always thought of Rak as his son, despite Rak being a humanoid Metal Head. Rak was happy here, working with the man who had always taken care of him. Today was a slow day however, and Jake, the "father", was getting restless. Rak knew he wanted to just close shop and go out all day. "Why don't you go out, I can handle the shop. I would go too but, my cloak is still drying." Jake looked at Rak and, with a smile, nodded. He almost never spoke. Rak knew what he meant though. They had connected in a father-son way, and were able to read each other's emotions without words. As Jake left, Rak sat at the counter and sighed. The only thing to do now was to wait for the first customer.
