We are proud to announce Dystopiatic Eco 2.0! With this comes a lot of changes to layout, design, operation, and the staff of DE.
Layout/Design:
As is already obvious, we have just upgraded the forums software to Proboards V5. However, V5 is still in the beta stages. So if you see or experience anything that seems to be completely out of place, please take note of the error, what you were doing at the time, and your browser. We will need to gather this information and send it off to Proboards so that they can be made aware of any and all glitches in the system so that the errors can receive a permanent fix.
With the upgrade to V5 we have decided to make a complete overhaul of the forum design, though keep to the color scheme that has defined the site. Please be aware that we are not yet done with the new design and what we have now is simply an interim-design to fill the gap until the new one is complete, and we will be making periodic updates to the design to slowly bring the full 2.0 design into the forums one piece at a time.
Operation:
We are changing a few things in how the forums operate. For starters, the old Java chat is gone, and in it's place we have a Cbox at the bottom of the forums that's built right into the V5 software, so your login on the forums also logs you into the Cbox and links to your forum profile. We also have the IRC channel, which can handle large numbers of members and heavy conversations in ways that the CBox can not. All members are free to use both systems.
We will also streamlining a few systems, some internal and some external. Member levels that define how many characters each member is permitted to have will not be automated via forum rank. We will also incorporate the help of the DE MVPs in the approval process of the shops, so wait times will not be as long as they have in the past.
Staff:
The DE staff is also undergoing a complete overhaul. After an awesome 5 years as the founder and head Administrator of DE I am sad to announce that I will be stepping down from this position. However, this does not mean that I am leaving. I will still be on DE, working from the shadows to maintain the functionality and operations of the forums. Any issues with how the forums are functioning, especially during the beta period of V5 should be sent to me for processing.
On the off hand it is my pleasure to announce that our long standing Assistant Admin, princedee, will be taking on the role of Head Administrator and will be handling all of the day to day operations and decisions on DE.
We are also sad to announce that our Moderators, paladin89 and Kelinna, will be stepping down due to time constraints. We wish them the best of luck with their endeavors in real life and hope that they will be able to find the time to return to their internet home and family soon.
In the wake of loosing two Moderators we have chosen to observe the forums and it's membership. As a result we have chosen to promote dbkillerex to the role of Role-Play Moderator. DB has be a very helpful and active member of the forums for a long time, and we have been proud to watch him grow as the site itself grew.
Though this is technically not part of the staff, we are also happy to announce that darkjak87 has been promoted to the MVP ranks. He, and evey will be assisting the staff in the forums through the new streamlined store approval process.
