Legacy of the Light Family
By: Tatty.
The city grew brightly this night. Haven has never looked so magnificent than it has before. The grand library was empty as could be. No one was interested in the tales these old books gave. No one but one old muse who had for awhile found joy in these writings.
The muse would spend day in and day out reading about the tales of Mar and the Corruption of Praxis. The rule of corruption the Hora'Quan studies and more. He even went in depth to reading about Kras and its mafia. The muse enjoyed these readings very much, he found solitude in them.
The day was slow no one was in. The Head library went out to eat. Soon rain started to pour in the streets of the city. The Muse walked along the long isle and towards the great double doors of Havens Legacy. He stood by and watched as citizens ran into their homes or shops to stay dry. He sighed. His twilight fur sinking in. The muse's robes were designed for the ancient times of the world. The Precursor time. They were long and well suited for him. His long beard stretched down hitting the very floor he stood on. His vision was slowly leaving him as well as his mind and hearing. It has been many years since he lived in Haven.
Yet these many years have been blissful for him. He had a chance to meet many colorful people, a few diplomats, and even Mafia members who were interested in learning more about their heritage and what not. His life was indeed fun, it was well spent.
The muse turned around only to hear a child pant. He turned back slowly and fragile, looking at the young boys face. His face was gently and puffing from running fast, his hair was auburn like anothers' he remembered. He couldn't put his tongue on the name however. The child looked at him with wide worried eyes.
“What can I do for you young chap?” The muse said his English accent carrying. A trait he loved about himself. The boy looked at him with a surprised look. A talking muse not many people see too often.
The boy was hesitant. “I...I need to get out of the rain.” He said trying to bring a smile.
“Ah, well then make yourself at home. We have seating right over there.” The muse pointed to the right towards some tables and sofa's. “We have tea brewing all the time right over there. Help yourself.” He continued by pointing to the left of the tables towards a machine.
The muse turned around disappointed. He had hoped this young lad was interested in books or stories of the days before. Of course not. He was only interested in waiting for the storm to end. This is why he never gets his hopes up anymore. The muse slowly walked towards the front check out desk. There the Head librarian had set up the Muse's own desk and study section. A little bed to the right since he was one of the full time care takers of the library.
The muse sat on his chair and opened up a grand old book. A book that had lots of dust on it that once the cover hit the desk a poof of it all went everywhere. He whipped his hand back and forth to clear his air. He was dieing to get into this book. It was about the old times of Precursors and the coming of the world. How it interested him.
“Excuse me sir?” The muse looked up from the first page and saw the child looking at him. “Um... are you a muse?” He asked.
The Muse smiled widely. “Yes I am.”
“How can you talk?” The child asked bluntly. Then again all children are curious of the world and its many people. Including Muses who can talk.
The muse looked down. “A story best not told. Something I left in my past.” The muse looked back up and smiled. “But to let your little mind wonder I can talk because of magic!” He threw his hands out mystically as one of those wizards would do in those movies. The child’s eyes grew big. “Ah to be young and gullible again.” The muse snickered to himself.
He had nothing else to do but read, so why not fill this child’s mind with stories? Not fake ones but real ones. “How would you like me to tell you stories? Of years past?” The Muse asked the child while stepping down from his desk's chair and in front of the child. He was the same height which meant the kid was around four or five years old. If anything the kid was a midget.
The child looked at him. “Well I do have time since the rain wont end for some time.” Well sophisticated for his age the muse thought. The muse put a hand on the child's back while walking towards the sofa's.
“Depends what story I should tell you.” The muse thought on it. He sat the child on the sofa then took a seat on the one across from it. All the while stroking his long beard thinking. “Ah I know! The stories of the Light Family.” He smiled widely.
“Light Family?” The boy asked.
“Yes. The Light Sage and family. A man's who's touch can bring peace to your soul, his counter part, his wife who's touch can bring anger and rage to your being. His sister, who was feared even by the KG themselves! Lastly their daughter who brought peace to all concepts of Light and Dark.” While he said that he made the magnificent hand gestures that really intrigue the person's mind.
The child smiled. “Go on.”
The Muse smiled to. “Let me tell you about the story of how he came to be, how his wife came to be and his sister...” The muse talked. They talked and talked for hours on end. Each tale on the mans rise kept interesting the boy. They would get up from the sofa and get tea every now and then. Soon it got dark outside, the rain stopped and everything in the streets were quiet.
The Muse stopped at the end of the mans sister's story. “Ah it would seem the rain has stopped and the rain. Time for you to go and for me to close the library up.” The muse put the hand on the boy's back and walked him to the double doors of the library.
“Can I come back tomorrow?” The boy asked.
The Muse smiled. “Anytime child.” He enjoyed the boy's company. He only had his books and stories to keep him company and somewhat of the head librarian.
“Then tomorrow I will come back.” The boy waved and ran out of the library into the streets. The muse smiled and closed the doors with a button. He then went around the building and made sure everything was locked, the lights off and alarm on. Lucky for him he could see in the dark. He made his way to his bed and laid down, anxious for the next day.
The boy showed up the next day, and the next and next. Soon two weeks past, then a month. The boy showed up every day hearing the tales of Tatsu, Nephra, and Adelaide. As well as their Daughter Remi who was but a mere child. The muse even found out the boy's name, Jacob.
The end of the second month came. The muse grew ill and tired. The boy came and helped him with his various chores and more. At times the muse would be to tired to leave bed so the boy would pull up a chair next to it and listen. The muse grew happy.
“But most of all...all of them were really good friends of mine. In fact it was Tatsu himself who saved me and showed me the many wonders of books. Lets see...that was 12 years ago.” The muse smiled while laying down. The illness never left. The boy smiled.
“You knew a great family... what happened to them?” The boy asked seeing as the family is no longer known.
The muse smiled. “They left Haven, Kras, and Spargus. No one knows where to. Some speculate they died and some theorize the very Precursor's took them.”
“What do you think?” The boy asked.
“I think... he found his peace. Found a place where there was no man nor Hora'Quan. A serenity of a place, his own Eden where him and his family may stay for the rest of their life.” The muse smiled now dreaming lightly of the Eden place.
Knowing Tatsu it would have many tree's, a river and lake possibly a waterfall where the family could enjoy it. A meadow of gardens and many small creatures attracted to their presence, a grand tree in which he could dive into his core with.
“Mr. Muse wake up.” The boy said poking the muse for he did fall asleep and dream.
The muse lifted his head yawning. “Forgive me son, for that is all there is to tell of them.”
The child smiled. “I want to know more.”
The muse looked at him. “Then read the many books. I cannot anymore... my vision is failing.”
The boy smiled. “Then I'll read them to you. As thanks for telling me so much about the Light Family.”
The Muse smiled. “Tomorrow. I must rest now.” The muse laid his head down.
“Then I shall come back tomorrow. Ill tell the head librarian that you are asleep and that she needs to close up tonight.” The boy got up and walked away from the muse. “Sweet dreams Mr. Muse.” He said. The boy found the head librarian. “Mr. Muse went to sleep and wants you to close up tonight.” He said.
The librarian looked at him. “Oh you mean Bronx? Very well.” She smiled
“Bronx?” The boy asked.
The librarian looked shocked. “You have been with him for well over three months and you did not know his name?”
“He never told me. I started calling him Mr. Muse and he never objected.” The boy looked back at Bronx at the far corner of the library. He was fast asleep.
“Well now you know...but I have to ask you. Not to come back...”
“Why?” The boy asked surprised. Did he do something wrong?
“Because... Bronx is old...he isn't long for this world and tomorrow he wont be here. He will be sent to a dear old friends place to live the rest of his life.” The librarian said. She even had hurt in her voice, a pain of knowing someone dear to you is leaving soon.
The boy looked back. “I see...then can I come back to read the books he wants me to read?” The boy turned back. The librarian smiled and nodded. “And when I am older can I take his place?” She also nodded.
The boy left her and walked towards Bronx. He was sad but needed to ask those things first. When he saw Bronx his feelings worsened. Jacob walked up to the sleeping Bronx, strocked his back then kissed his head. “Good bye Mr. Muse...don't forget me or your stories please. Wherever you go... I hope you will remain happy.” With that the boy left, tears rolling down his face. This pain could not be healed by staying with the muse any longer.
That night before the Librarian closed up a man walked in. “May I help you?” She asked. He was in a cloak a long white cloak that sealed his body up.
“I am here for Bronx.” A velvet voice came out. She smiled.
“Right this way...he's been sleeping all day. Didn't even get a chance to say good bye to his friend.” She explained everything.
The two stood in front of Bronx. The man looked towards her. “That is good. As thanks give the boy this... it is something for him to remember Bronx by.” The man put the object in the ladies hand. “His Arm wraps...from when he was a fighter. Tell the boy thank you for me as well.”
The lady smiled. She walked away from the two so they can go. The man tapped Bronx's head once. “How may I help you?” Bronx said waking up and looking towards the blurred object, which soon faded to darkness. His visioned failed entirely.
“This is no good old friend. Seems age has hit you.” The man placed his hand over Bronx's face entirely. A surge of light and he removed it.
Bronx blinked a few times. Everything was clear, he could see the librarian to the far left placing his arm wraps on the desk and then he saw the many books he surrounded his later life around. The last thing he saw was the man in front of him.
“Thank you kindly... you have given me a gift worth while.” Bronx looked. “Is...”
The man lifted the hood to reveal snow white hair and three hair horns that stood long and proud. His face was pale and scared, his eyes shining brilliantly on Bronx's, the eyes were white. “Yes, me.” The man smiled.
“Tatsu...” Bronx said amazed. His body wouldn't move much, it pained him now.
“Time to go old friend.” Tatsu lifted Bronx and cradled him in his arms. There he coursed his Light Eco into the muse. To heal his aging wounds, his pain and suffering.
“Where are we going? A grand adventure?” Bronx asked looking around, making himself comfortable in Tatsu's arms.
“We are going to my home, a grove hidden by people. You will love it.” Tatsu smiled.
Bronx gave a smile. I already do...” Outside waiting for the two was Nephra. Her long purple hair brought a smile to Bronx and his heart.
“Hello darling.” Nephra sweetly said walking up and patting his head. “Ready?”
Bronx smiled, grinned really. “I am...Where is Remi and Adelaide?” He asked not seeing the two.
“They are waiting at home for you. Adelaide is setting up your room while Remi is making you dinner.” Nephra said smiling.
“I see...I cannot wait to see them.” Bronx laid his head on Tastu's arms.
“Same with them.” Tatsu spoke softly.
“Thank you dear friends...for coming back.” Bronx closed his eyes and felt the warmth of all of them. His dear friends. From there he would spend the rest of his life with. No matter how long or short. He would spend them with those he cares for.
