So i went and saw 'The Rite' today. I have to say it, it was AWESOME! Of course then again it had Anthony Hopkins.
Now a lot of people have been saying its suppose to be a horror movie. Wrong! No this is not a horror movie but more like a physiological suspense movie.
There is really nothing terribly scary as we think of movie wise. No body being dismembered, no dark places then axe murder pops out. No, instead this has several moments of something appearing that wasn't there a second ago and your like WTF! Along with this you have several parts that are just disturbing. But all in all this is not a horror movie.
Outside of the kind of movie it was, it had a very good pace. It wasn't rushed nor was it slow. The acting was very good, of course what can be expected from Hopkins!
But probably my favorite part is how accurate it all was! Do people spit up nails during exorcisms? Sometimes. Do they do this or do that? And the answer is sometimes, yes, and so on and so forth. They also portrayed the Roman Catholic Church in a very positive light as well, which pleased me greatly.
In the end though, with all the accuracies and make me jump parts this whole movie came down to faith. As it says for the movies one liner, "The only way to defeat it, is to believe in it," and that is right where this movie goes.
Also, very often during the movie, when the priest was doing the exorcisms I was like EPIC WIN!
All in all, if you want something that has a good meaning this is good. If you want something that will entertain, this is good also. Is it everyone's cup of tea? No, but in the end, it is still a solid movie and will definitely be on my shelf when it comes out on video.
If you have any comments or questions feel free to post!
