Genesis nodded with a smile and brought his head down, the base of the Breaker slamming down against the ground. Tonus hoisted himself up on to the back of Genesis' neck, specifically at the base so the Metal Head didn't have to strain any further than needed to. The machine gun rested on the plates, between the spines, on Genesis, just behind Tonus so he could easily grab hold and open fire when the barricade came into view. Genesis broke in to a sort of strut as he pushed the shield, only leaving once Tonus was securely on him.
"How exactly did you become like this, Genesis?" Tonus asked, leaning just a bit off to make eye contact. A shiver was sent down his spine as the purple eye looked back.
"It was before I made way into Haven." Genesis started, grunting to push the shield further. "I spent most of my days outside of the shield wall, in a little rick pile just a few meters away. To entertain myself on some days, I harassed Krimzion Guard convoys, mainly supply lines. Until I laid eyes on this one convoy. Heavily protected and the cargo was covered, it didn't seem right. I wanted a closer look, but I also figured out that this convoy had some sort of Spec Ops detail. Leading the operation was this man named Zrion, a charming fellow whom I tussled with once and fought alongside twice."
"You fought alongside some KG?" Tonus interrupted.
"The situations called for it." Genesis replied. "As I was saying, this convoy had been carrying a secret weapon, along with some barrels of dark eco. Apparently, someone had been watching me as I stayed outside the walls and got the idea to build a mechanized Genesis, I think it called itself Alpha, I don't remember. Just said something about coming online."
Genesis stopped rambling for a moment, "Heads up, I think we're coming upon the barricade."

Pyrius listened to Genesis as he explained his new look. As he spoke, Pyrius experienced a flashback from his third promotion in the KG, about four years before he left. He was required for about week to assist a scientist in creating a new weapon. All Pyrius had to do was pick up certain parts of the weapon and give them to the scientist. At the time, he had only known it as the A-project. He was hinted that the A was short for something, but he didn't know then. Now, he had his answer. Alpha and the A-project were the same thing. Pyrius had helped the scientist, and thus, almost helped in Genesis's destruction. Pyrius was glad Genesis came out victorious. He wouldn't be here now, as an unexpected ally, and Pyrius wouldn't be able to pull off this mission. *I will have to talk to Genesis after this is over.*

Genesis felt the bottom of the shield hit the bottom of the stairs. He then tilted the Breaker back towards Tonus, who at this time, leaned back with the shield. By the sounds of everything, it seemed like the guards hadn't noticed a scrapped-together shield.
"Tonus! Open fire!" Genesis commended.
In a somewhat swift fashion, not really all that elegant, Tonus swung the machine gun around the side of the shield and pulled the trigger. Just about the only thing he knew about guns, pull the trigger. For the human, it was just a spray n' pray method as he fired the weapon at an angle towards the barricade.
"Pyrius, I think you're good to go. Like, right now!" Tonus yelled over the shots fired by the gun.

Pyrius shifted himself into position on the side of the wall. Looking at the other two, he nodded and vaulted over the wall. When he landed, he pulled out his katana and swung it in a full arc, taking out the nearest KG. As the guard fell, Pyrius jumped over to a KG with the Grenade Launcher and knocked the gun to the side as it was being fired, sending the grenade into another guard. Pyrius felt a piece of shrapnel cut into his right arm as the grenade went off, and switched the sword to his left arm. He then took cover behind one of their own barricades as he heard them begin firing in his direction. When the gun fired paused, he jumped out, right arm charged with a small amount of yellow eco, and sword in a backhand position in his left. In the air, he spun clockwise, throwing his sword into the neck of one guard and sending yellow eco into the chest of another. As both fell, he ran back to Tonus and Genesis and stopped next to them. "OK, who's going next?", he said with a grin.

The machine gun in Tonus' hands quickly ran out of ammo and started clicking in an attempt to get some from the air. Genesis' tail soon wrapped the MG and yanked it away from Tonus. His tail went from left to right in a powerful motion, sending the gun hurling through the air towards the MG nest that still stood. Hearing a satisfying crash, Genesis smiled and slid out from the shield he had his head against. Tonus slid off casually, but was soon left in the dust as Genesis launched himself up the stairwell. This left Tonus to look up with a groan and a roll of his eyes.
"As if I don't have enough troubles with stairs already..." Tonus mumbled to himself, hobbling his way over to the bottom step.

Pyrius went over to help his friend. "I gotta say, that Metal Head is something else. He smiles, plays, and has this scary powerful tronsformation thing going on." he said, "I think I'm startin' to like him." he finished with a smile. he then proceeded to the top of the stairs with Tonus, looking to where Genesis dissapeared to. "Where did he go?" Pyrius let his friend go and grabbed another gun, one with more ammo. "Can't stay here, let's keep moving."

Genesis was having a bit of fun chasing that last of the barricade guards down the hall. He'd catch up to the guard, smile creepily at him, then fall back so the guard would look back at him. The clinking of his elongated claws against the floor could be heard in what short perimeter that anyone would be in. Of course, the better part of Genesis felt bad, just a little, for leaving Tonus at the bottom of the stairs. Genesis figured that the human could manage since he technically hold him off at the stadium, and used his now broken staff to jam his mouth open.
"You don't have to tell me," Tonus began, graciously accepting his friend's help, "I could tell he was something else from that eco ore growing out of his back." Tonus took a moment to think a bit, until it dawned on him.
"That's it!" Tonus yelled, quickly breaking into a somewhat limp-sprint down the hall. "I figured out why he can transform!"

Pyrius stared after him, mouth open in confusion and surprise. "OK, now you got me worried." He set off after Tonus, jogging at a quiet pace. As he caught up, he asked, "OK, now what did you figure out?" Pyrius kept a look out ahead of them as they ran, looking for signs of more enemies. He noticed the destruction of the transformed Genesis. "Quite destructive this way, isn't he?"

"Ever notice how most Metal Heads like Genesis aren't usually affected by Dark Eco like he is? By most standards, it should have acted like water, or milk, or something that we'd drink to quench a thirst. Not Genesis, why you might ask, the answer is simple." Tonus stopped for another moment before continuing, "The Green Eco Ore in his back is conflicting with the Dark Eco he ingested! Thus causing a chain reaction that might not possibly morphs his physical appearance, but maybe his mentality as well!" Tonus smiled back towards Pyrius with a glee he hadn't felt in years. "We might have just discovered a rare anomaly in Metal Head genetic anatomy!"
Genesis grew tired of his little game quickly and dashed forward. His tail wrapped around the guard's leg and yanked him to the ground with a thud. Genesis lifted the guard from the ground and slammed his body into the wall to his left, ensuring a knock-out before slamming the guard into the wall to his right. The final blow was delivered through a slam to the floor behind himself, where he watched some of the blood leak from the mangled, armor-clad corpse. Genesis grimaced before heading back from hence he came.
His Dark Eco soon wore off, returning the Metal Head back to his original state. As he trudged along, he did another recollection of his past, his memories, and mostly his conscious. He kicked the guard's body back just a bit further, snort as he passed it by. His only objective as of now was to get back to Pyrius and Tonus before he went any further down these halls.

"Colonel, both squads have gone dark," the staff analyst reported. His words were cool, professional, but Ackers could hear the trace of fear in his voice.
Roberts was livid over the loss of his men, while Corrie and Hurst simply looked worried. Ackers meanwhile looked angry. They needed those commandos, and they needed them now!
Just when he was about to call Dekker again, the intercom beeped.
"Colonel, - " the com officer began.
"Patch it through," he cut across.
"Colonel Ackers?" a male voice addressed. "Deputy Commander James Zrion," he introduced. "My squad and I have arrived at the fortress. Do you have a location on our objective?"
Ackers blinked in surprise. They were already here? Well, he wasn't complaining.
"Sector D7," he said immediately. "Do you need any support?"
A long pause. "Negative, Colonel," Zrion said hesitantly. "It would be...inconvenient to have too many people fighting in close quarters. We'll handle it."
Translation: We don't want the regulars getting in the way, Ackers thought sardonically. Well, at least Zrion was polite about it.
"Very well, I'll keep my men on standby. Keep me in the loop, Ackers out."
"These guys better be all they're cracked up to me," Corrie grumbled. "Otherwise..." he trailed off. ______________________________________________________________________________________
In the bowels of the fortress, following the smell of ozone, was a four-man squad of fourth echelon commandos. Zrion himself was in the lead, while the rest were following behind in a single, evenly-spaced column.
"Alright, listen up," he spoke. "We've got reports of a security breach in the fortress. Infiltrators have broken in and the security teams have failed to contain them. Second Echelon hasn't got any leads, so all we know is that they've been tearing through regular squads like tissue paper."
"That shouldn't be possible," Braeburn muttered. "Not against a force this small. What the hell is going on, commander?"
"That's what we're here to find out," Zrion answered. "And then we shoot it. Got it?"
"Business as usual. Understood, sir," Mendoza quipped.
"Good. We're almost to the last known location, so everyone get ready. From what we know, these guys are fast, coordinated, and sneaky. That means spread out and cover the whole hallway, and lay down suppressive fire so they can't close in. Mendoza, soon as we get in range, I want you hit them with a grenade."
"Got it," he acknowledged.
"Alright, we're almost there. Should be just around the corner," Zrion warned, hoisting his rifle and pulling the bolt back. He could faintly hear voices talking up ahead, at least three.
"Mendoza, can you get a bead from here?" Zrion asked.
"I think so," he muttered. He reached forward and grasped the handle of his underslung grenade launcher, tilting it up slightly to aim at the wall ahead.
"Okay...Now!" Zrion barked.
A loud 'thunk' and the grenade left the barrel, striking the wall and bouncing sideways toward the unknown group. A loud 'boom' followed a moment later, echoing through the corridors.
"Alright, move in!" Zrion shouted. The black-armored soldiers surged forward, closing the distance and rounding the corner, putting them directly in front of the enemy group.
"The hell?" Zrion breathed.
"Is that...Genesis?" Mendoza sighed. "Figures."
"Oh, you have got to me shitting me," Zrion scowled. "Alright, this doesn't change anything. Orders are to terminate hostiles," he decided. "Let 'em have it!"
All four soldiers opened fire at once, filling the hallway with lead as they took aim at the various targets and held down their triggers.
