Era: Baron's corruption and forward
Name: Fyrenze (Pronounced 'Frenzy')
Sex: Male
Age:
Baron's Corruption: 23
Fall of Haven: 27
World Without End: 29
Appearance: Fyrenze is around 6'1 in height, with a lean body but a noticeable build of muscle. His eye color is dark blue, and he has a strong, well-defined jawline. He never smiles, but he has been known to bare his teeth when angered or fighting, an occurrence that reveals his sharpened teeth. His hair is dark brown, and while not long, it is thick and quite shaggy, as if Fyrenze can't be bothered to keep it tidy. For clothing, he wears a pair of black jeans, a simple T-shirt, and combat boots. Over this, he wears a black, knee-length trench coat to conceal his weapons. However, his most striking features are his eyes. Fyrenze's eyes are very intense, emitting an almost tangible feeling of pain and rage that allows him to easily stare down most people. As a result, most people subconsciously avoid eye contact with him.
Personality: Fyrenze is a very serious, no nonsense type of person, with little-to-no sense of humor. He is somewhat sadistic, but he usually kills his victims quickly, if rather painfully. He is a loner in every sense of the word, and almost always shuns social contact, and only works with people when it is absolutely required. In his mind, his dark eco ability is the only 'friend' that he needs. Indeed, he has a somewhat odd relationship with his 'dark side'. While not sentient, the dark eco does influence his emotions, and from his point of view, even seems to have some of its own. Such as it is, this 'dark side' is the closest thing to a friend that Fyrenze has.
Occupation: "Independent Agent", of the Underground movement.
Abilities/Skills: Fyrenze, although gifted with the ability to wield dark eco, has only a moderate level of power. He compensates for this, however, through an efficient and extremely refined technique that maximizes his abilities. In addition to his excellent eco control, he is also skilled with his sword, making him a very lethal opponent at close range. In theory, Fyrenze could easily be bested by attacking him from a distance, but in practice Fyrenze always ensures that a situation is to his advantage before moving in. Rather than fighting enemies openly, he prefers to ambush them and dispatch them with the element of surprise. In his opinion, if you don't strike the first blow, you're not likely to get a second. As a result, he is both willing and able to fight dirty, something that has made him alarmingly effective in battle.
Powers: Advanced level dark eco.
Weapons: A Katana sword, black, with a matching sheath. The sword has his name engraved in white along the blade.
Relationships: None
Story about them/History: Fyrenze began his life as an unassuming young boy named 'Abel Hoffman', the healthy child of two proud parents. However, unbeknownst to him, his parents were loosely connected to the Underground movement. While not official members, their place of residence was part of an 'underground network' of sorts, used as a waypoint for communication between safehouses.
Somehow, the KG had found out about their involvement, and when he was ten years old the house was raided during one of the KG's many purges. His parents, despite their ties, had no fighting ability to speak of and were quickly killed. In his anger and fear, he lashed out with his bare hands, having no weapons to use. However, much to his astonishment, the Guard cried out in agony, and his hands were coated in blood as his fingers tore through the Guard's armor and flash like paper.
Dumbfounded by the unexpected result, Abel gazed in wonder at his blood-coated hands. Wickedly sharp talons had emerged from greying fingertips, and strange purple energy occasionally sparked between his fingers, almost like electricity. But, perhaps the most significant change was that which was unseen. Unprepared for the feelings of rage induced by dark eco, the newly awakened ecoist gave in to his powers entirely. He has no memories of what happened next, and when he regained consciousness, he was locked in a cell. According to overheard conversations between the prison guards, he had managed to kill six soldiers before they had managed to disable him.
It was all downhill from there. He was beaten frequently and kept on the verge of starvation, as the soldiers guarding the facility were none too kind to a so-called 'Guard Killer'. To make matters worse, they had taken a unique interest in his abilities. He was experimented on daily, tortured in an effort to break his will and pumped full of dark eco in an attempt to expand his powers. Yet, no matter what they did to him, he endured. The dark eco within him had turned his mind toward rage, and in that was his refuge. His anger toward his captors overrode any thoughts of submission.
Despite his resistance, he was not considered to be much of a threat. He used this to his advantage - playing the defiant, but helpless prisoner, enduring the experiments and yet never doing more than insulting his captors. As a result, he was only an annoyance, not a genuine danger, in their eyes.
This turned out to be a mistake on their part. Late one night, when his door was opened for food to be brought in, Fyrenze, as he had taken to calling himself, struck. The black talons could now appear with a single thought, and his powers had grown exponentially over the years. Fyrenze carved a bloody swath through the fortress as he escaped, and after a long, bloody battle, he succeeded. For the first time in many years, Fyrenze breathed fresh air.
Infuriated by his long imprisonment and the ruthless experimentation, Fyrenze quickly developed ties to the Underground movement, not out of any sense of duty, but simply because they were a means to an end - an outlet for his pent-up rage. For Fyrenze, his anger was an old friend - it had been his refuge, and now, it was his strength. In modern times, Fyrenze is something of a rogue element to the Underground. While he is nominally a member of the organization, in practice he views their 'orders' more as suggestions. As long as he gets to kill Krimzon Guards, he has few quarrels with the movement, but he refuses to be 'put on a leash' as it were. As a result, he wages his own private war against the KG, rarely working with the more 'proper' members of the Underground. The Underground is infuriated by Fyrenze's unwillingness to follow their lead, but they grudgingly accept that he's too useful to cut ties with entirely. Fyrenze and they Underground have a mutual understanding: When the Underground needs someone really dead, they point Fyrenze in their direction. Other than that, they let him do as he pleases.
To the KG, Fyrenze is completely unknown - no one is aware of his identity, as none of his targets ever survive his wrath. There are three marks for one of his kills - the first, deep cuts, as if made by a large blade. The second, a shriveled, ashen corpse indicating death by massive dark eco exposure. The third, vicious gouges, as if made by talons, often disemboweling the victim.
