As of today, Bungie has taken one more step to world domination with the release of the Halo : Reach Beta.
At this very moment, and for all the others that will read this it is currently 7:56 p.m. central time, when this post is being written.
I, DVM, and two other people foreign to this site have being playing the Halo:Reach beta; and it is good.
Well let me put it down for all you good DE folks just how fun the beta is...actually I can't since its well, you'll just have to trust me, its good.
So in the beta you have the option of two maps to play on, Sword Base and Power House. Sword base is a fairly linear map...at least in the vertical aspect, with three levels all connected by bridges, ramps, and elevators.
Then there is Power House, a more circular map, allowing for many different routes from ground running to hopping across roof tops.
Now with the maps out of the way I will say that the new game types are both old and new. You have the usual odd ball, capture the flag, and slayer, but now you have what is called stockpile.
Stockpile is basically you go around gathering flags/skulls and deliver them back to your base. Of course at the same time you must keep your enemy from stealing what you have stocked as well as steal those that your enemy has stocked. Yea, gets hectic.
Of course with both the old and new game types they still get new twists and turns with the new spartan abilities. You have the simple ability to sprint (self explanatory), you can also do what is called armor lock where you slam your fist into the ground and turn invincible for a short time while causing a EMP blast. Then there is the stalker ability where you become invisible for a short amount of time while scrambling all the radars of all those around you.
Then you have the jet pack...should I say more.
Last but not least you can now have even more customizing of your armor. As you go through matches in multilayer you can earn credits and add new pieces to your armor.
All in all the Reach experience is new, its old, it foreign, it good. You have the old feel of Halo 3 along with the new bells and whistles and now a new aspect to look forward to when the final game launches.
If you haven't played the beta yet feel free to ask. As for all those who have become veterans of the beta please give your input on what you have experience in the newly release Halo : Reach Beta!
