My advise is to paint in a gradient. Place the brightest part of the glow immediately around the muse. Then you will go between using the eye dropper and making the color progressively darker as you move away from the muse. It can help to lower the hardness of the brush, unless the glow is reflecting off of a surface. Also decreasing the opacity of the brush to 50% or less and progress from a light to dark through your brush strokes can really help. I wish I had my laptop working else I would give you some examples.
