For all of you folks out there who wanted a fun challenging game with a very immersing storyline, life like characters, excellent graphics, and plenty of action with some interesting but simple puzzles that just help work that gray matter in your head for a little while then this is the game for you.
Half Life 2 in my opinion is one of the best FPS create. Originally for PC and the followed by an xbox version this game raised the bar for first person shooters which very few have reached, and only in some area but not in all. Created by a company call Valve this game, if anything, is like a super interactive book with one of the best story lines around for a video game and for a FPS. Shoot it probably has the best storyline created for a FPS.
The storyline in a nut shell after the ending of Half Life 1 you find your self as the silent (and I mean silent because your main character never speaks) Gordon Freeman once more on a train that stops in a city called...well City 17. Not the most original names but anyway, after you get off you find that an alien race, known as the Combine, has take over Earth and basically reigns as supreme dictator over all. Eventually you find yourself teamed up with a resistance group that is helped by some of your friends from Black Mess, which is where Half life 1 took place and where all this heck was started. Along with these folks is an alien race called the vortagons which have to decided to help. From there you get going on a fast and wild ride through the rest of the game that give you very little time to rest and have you so immersed in the game you will be up in the early hours of the morning playing. But since I don't want to reveal to much of the story for all future player I'll end the story area here.
Another thing that causes Half Life 2 too stand out from the crowd is its remarkably lifelike physics engine. Everything in this game has its own weight it seems, barrels will roll slower and more heavily then a little ball, plastic barrels if dropped from up high will go under water then pop back to the surface realistically. Your enemies and not just the humanoid one have there own weight and even skeletal structure. If they move then it looks believable and not "HOW IN THE WORLD DID IT DO THAT!?!"
Another thing that make HalfLife 2 stand out is its characters. All of them seem so realistic in not only appearance but also personality that you would think that they where real people. Valve has done probably one of the best jobs ever done with facial animations on their characters and each character depending on their personality seem to actually care for each other, hate each other, or anything else that add in with human emotions.
Next up is the graphics. They may not be as flashy as the games of today but when it come down to it, this game has so much detail it doesn't need anything flashy. Its just great.
Then you have the action and puzzles. Its hard to describe the action of HL2, its fast pace in your face action sometimes, other times its nervously looking around to have something jump out at you and frantically shoot around everywhere, then then next thing you know you round a corner come across a little problem.
You have to raise a draw bridge but your not sure how. So you simply push some items into a basket with a wire attached to the end of the bridge and let weight and physics do the rest.
I never said that the puzzles where outlandishly hard but most of them will make you stop and think for 2 minutes at the least.
If you have anything questions on the game fill free to ask and if you have anything you wish to discuss, such as the storyline or any other element of the game, perhaps even your favorite moment in it, feel free to post up.
