Best. Game. EVERRRRRR!!! I love Dante because he's the perfect hero. Does he need weaknesses? No. He's friggin' Dante. Does he need love? No, just sex. He's so awesome.

Dante is Dante plan and simple. Loved the first game, didn't care for the second one that much, the third I thought it was intresting and I liked how the introduced the characters. The anime, haven't watched much of except the first eps. and it's pretty niffty.

I just got the fifth anniversary pack that has 1-3. Started playing 1. It kind of just tosses you in there without a tutorial unless you're boring enough to wait for the title screen to go away. Also, with very little explanation of what the hell's going on (reminded me of how you start off Disgaea with that big story about a big guy who did big stuff, then you come in suddenly with this badass chick waking up the dude's son or something from a nap and telling him he has to get his ass in gear so his dad's name doesn't go down the tubes).

I have gone through two levels thus far. *nods* It's pretty fun actually. I was a little skeptical since someone kept praising it over and over again, but it is good. I think, so far, my only real problem is how anytime you're hit, you lose a crapload of health, and that there isn't a good ambience music so far for when you're not fighting. But, despite those two things, it is indeed seeming good so far.

I did also have the chance to play the 4th installment with Nero and it was awesomely fun to play with all the things he could do if you got enough orbs. I also mastered him a lot faster than the other guys who tried playing. It was too much fun tearing things up with him (personally, I just loved doing the Devil Bringer in the air trick to hear Johnny Bosch go "Slam dunk!!!" X3 Did you know he did, not only the voice, but the motion capture for Nero?). Now, 4 suffered the same problem of sometimes a not-so-good ambience track (if there was any at certain points. it's been a while, so I can't recall) but health didn't quite go down as fast, and you also weren't assailed by tons of bad guys at once. Also, the style system where you couldn't let your moves go too stale without losing rank was an awesome change from the regular "How much ass are you kicking rather than button mashing?" system in the first one. Not sure if the 4 system is in the other two, but it's sweet.

So, as far as I've played, I can believe DMC being an upper-tier video game. The punkish style of the game is definitely, for its time, a big switch from the usual stuff.

P.S. - Well, I did see a clip of Dante going, "I could have filled your dark soul with LIGHT!!!" and I laughed at how awkward it sounded. Then again, it was also an awkward line to end with a yell on "Light". I blame directing lol

I love how DMC never really has a deep story line. It let's you get straight to the killing.

That's kinda the part that bugs me, though. There isn't much story you're following in the beginning. It's pretty much bunch of bigass demons go "Hey, are you that guy who's the son of that guy?" and Dante, being who he is, says something cocky like "Bring your ass down here if you wanna find out." Not really any story yet in the game and, despite enjoying the battling aspect, I'm starting to lose what exactly's being done here. Example: Why the f*** am I in a castle and then trying to get into a coliseum, but not before riding a pirate ship and fighting that bird boss again.

Sure, beating things up is real fun and all, but where's the story? I just went through ten missions without anything else about what the hell's going on. Just straight-on missions without any little cutscenes between with something to do with the story. And who the f*** is that black knight dude whose ass I kicked twice? Is he that brother of Dante I keep hearing about?

*sighs* Well, perhaps I shouldn't expect much storytelling at this point. I found out the game seems to have been made in America, which explains the lack of storytelling, even in the beginning. It's this kind of thing that turned me off of Disgaea, too. DMC is starting to feel like one of those flash-bang games that are for people who want quick action and beat crap up without caring for a reason. Wanton destruction, that's the term I'm looking for.

I guess it's something to pound away at when you're angry at someone, but really, I wouldn't see much a point unless there was a good story being explained as you went along. Kinda like how they were doing in 4, from what I saw. You at least caught glimpses of what was happening behind the scenes while Nero chased down Dante or whatever.

You have to admit it's good for PMS. ._. I play games like Shadow Hearts for storyline.
