*Warning* Those of you who have not played the game, and do not wish to know anything about it until you play it, please read the below post at your own discretion -
I agree with leviathan, I bought the game over thanksgiving weekend, and I'm about 20-ish percent finished with it. I've gotten to the point now, however, where I had to stop and wait for a few days because I was so frustrated that I was being threatened with throwing my PS2 through the wall. Oh, dear. I really liked the game when I started playing it, but I have always hated games that are timed, so when you have to go into Farreach (or whatever its called) for supplies, because apparently the pirate captain is too lazy to do it himself, and you only have a certain amount of time to get through a series of increasingly difficult platforming challenges to kill these massive apes, I was really disappointed. First, when you get the time-stopping power, it only works when its fully charged, something that the other powers don't do - they work regardless of how full they are. So, occasionally, you have to sit on platforms that threaten to dump you off and wait for the power to recharge, all the while losing time from your sparse roughly 2.5 minute timer. Also, for some reason, the autofire on my gun only works roughly 20 percent of the time. When you get the auto fire for this gun (called vulcan something I think), it says if you hold down L1 then R1, your gun will auto fire. Yeah, not so much. I don't know whether I'm pressing the buttons in the wrong sequence, or whether it only allows you to autofire after losing a certain number of times (like in Crash Bandicoot, when you get a mask after dying a certain number of times). I don't know, but I really wish it would work, because when your surrounded by six apes who are much stronger than you are, it would be really nice to be able to get more than one shot every few seconds. Ugh.
On another note, I don't think the graphics are that bad, though killing enemies is a little anticlimactic. The plane flights are fun, but because you don't have any map system for the area, its easy to get lost, which I have, several times.
I think High Impact did an OK job, though they could have spent more time actually playing the game and fixing it instead of just adding stuff thinking, "this is gonna be badass, guys!" I'm pretty happy with it overall though.
